In order to edit the Hardcoded Worldmap Messages of Newer Super Mario Bros Wii, you need to know how to compile NewerSMBW's source code.

Tutorial written by User:RedStoneMatt

Step 1: Opening the File which contains the Hardcoded Worldmap Messages[edit | edit source]

Core.cppfolder.png

In the Newer Source Code, go to the folder

NewerSMBW-master/Kamek/src/koopatlas

if you're using the master branch of Newer Source Code.

If you're using the no-translations branch, it will be

NewerSMBW-no-translations/Kamek/src/koopatlas

If you've done this correctly, you'll see this folder:

Now, open the core.cpp file with Notepad++ or another text-editing software.

Step 2: Editing the Hardcoded Worldmap Messages[edit | edit source]

Corecpphardcodedmessages.png

In the core.cpp file, go the the 1087th line and you'll see the Hardcoded Worldmap Messages:

Now, you just have to edit the text of the message you want.

In order to go to the next line, simply add

\n

to the text.

In order to write the Star Coin icon, simply add

\x0B\x014F\xBEEF

to the text.

In order to write the Blue Exit icon, simply add

\x0B\x013B\xBEEF

to the text.

Note: after the 2nd, 3rd and 4th messages, the name of the world you currently are in will be showed.

here is an example of an edited Hardcoded Worldmap Messages:

L"You got all of\nthe \x0B\x014F\xBEEF Star Things in\n",

Step 3: Compiling & Finishing[edit | edit source]

Now, you just need to compile your edited source code. After recompiling it, just copy the bin files into your NewerRes folder and launch the game. then, when you'll activate a specific worldmap event (like collecting all the star coins of a world), you'll see your edited message!
