Trivia[edit | edit source]

The keyhole icons were scrapped during the development of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. The original final castle was split up in 6 smaller levels which would be completed by collecting a key. When all keys were collected, the final battle would unlock. Because the event mechanism could not be implemented, the concept was scrapped.
